No doubt about it, vs. the ‘74 Mustang II, this is way more ballcap-wearing epic mullet pony car. More Mustang than Mustang.

They do look rather like a Japanese caricature of a muscle car, don’t they? Not that that’s a bad thing.

I thought the huge fenders were to allow the car to be lowered for Trans Am racing and still maintain ample amounts of room for meaty slicks.
That said, no one remembers that the ‘71 AMX whooped ass in the championship that year with Penske leading the team.

Yes it did, and the nose of the Dodge Challenger. But the Javelin in full regalia makes it look the other way around.
